Mike Rohrbacher – IMPACT Board Vice Chairman
Michael Rohrbacher, Ph.D., MT-BC, is Associate Professor Emeritus, Florida Gulf Coast
University (FGCU). He holds a Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology (University of MD Baltimore County),
M.S. in Education-Communicative Disorders (Johns Hopkins University), and Bachelor of Music
Therapy (East Carolina University). Dr. Rohrbacher joined the Faculty at FGCU in 2013 to begin
the program, Bachelor of Music Therapy, now well established with graduates in service to
human service agencies throughout Florida. IMPACT continues to periodically serve as a
training site for FGCU music therapy students. He previously served in various leadership roles
for music therapy organizations, including the Certification Board for Music Therapists, Inc.
Dr. Rohrbacher’s clinical interests throughout his career includes service to the elderly, culminating
as Project Director for two federal awards from the Administration on Aging. Drawing from his
experience as music therapist for the Baltimore City Public Schools in service to students with
physical and developmental disabilities, his interests also include applications of music-
centered technology for students with special needs. He looks forward to initiating the use of
such technology through the 2023-24 school year for students enrolled at IMPACT.
